Asos: fast fashion & fair wages

Asos is a UK based, trend oriented retailer featuring thousands of products from hundreds of brands. I purchased a dress and a pair of shoes from them early last year and am still pleased with their quality.

Navigating fast fashion retail companies that are ethically minded can be tricky because you never know to what extent you should buy into (literally) their formal statements on Corporate Responsibility; you must also forego qualms - at least to some extent - about our reckless, throw-away consumer culture.

That being said, Asos has a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility statement that explicitly states that all employees receive a living wage. They are also carbon neutral, cruelty free, and charitable on a large scale. Theirs is the most impressive statement I've read to date.

So, if you're itching for a trendy item, skip the mall and go to Asos.

Or, you know, work through it and shop your closet instead.

  1. Good to know about Asos. I don't shop online much or from big stores like that but next time I need something specific, will check them out! They do have super cute stuff.

Thanks for reading and commenting on my blog--nice to hear there are entire blogs devoted to countering cheap fast fashion!
