The Sustainable Sandals of Summer | 11 Places to Find Ethical Sandals
My Sustainable + Ethical Summer Sandals Collection
I’m a Florida girl at heart, so I love a good pair of sandals. Some are more functional than others - for instance, I can’t wear a backless style to work unless I want to trip up the stairs - so I like to have a bit of variety. Here’s a sampling of my summer sandal collection. Below, I’ll share additional brands that carry ethical and sustainable sandals.
(Clockwise from bottom)
1 | Deux Mains Sandals via Love Justly, $38.49
Made with local leather and upcycled tires in Haiti. Size down for a better fit! These were given to me for review by Love Justly.
2 | Everlane Day Crossover Sandals, $88
Extremely soft uppers, and bendy soles with good traction. These were given to me for review by Everlane.
3 | Melissa X Jason Wu Sandals (old style, vegan) - Similar
Melissa sandals are made from plastic, but their sandals are recyclable! Just mail them back.
4 | OESH Athena Sandals, $120
A woman owned local business using eco-friendly 3-D printing for their soles, and locally made straps. These were given to me for review a few years ago.
5 | Teva Sandals, secondhand via Ebay
I wanted a pair of Tevas for the style and the arch support, so I found a pair secondhand.
6 | Camper Multi-color Sandals, secondhand via Ebay
I stalked these on ebay for about a month before the seller and I came to an agreement on price. I paid about $40 for these. Camper tends to run over $100, so it was a good deal, and secondhand! Camper is my favorite shoe company, but their shoes aren’t necessarily made with ethical or sustainable processes, so I always seek out secondhand options.
7 | ABLE Gisela Sandals, $88
Made in an ethical factory, these are a fun and fancy change of pace from most of my collection, and surprisingly comfortable, too. These were given to me for review.
